Run, jump, and swing your way through a dark world full of danger.

Bonerunner is a fast-paced 2D pixel platformer where you play as a skeleton armed with nothing but the Mighty Axe. Fight your way through a ruined world, collect power-ups hidden in chests, and survive long enough to face the final boss. You only have one hit point — so every jump, swing, and move counts.

Features:

  • The Mighty Axe: Your only weapon — time your attacks and take out enemies before they take you out
  • Single-hit survival: One mistake means death — keep moving and stay alert
  • Power-up chests: Explore and find three powerful upgrades:
    • Triple Jump
    • Pace Boost
    • Less Gravity
  • Simple and dark pixel art style: A black world with glowing enemies and items
  • Final boss challenge: Can you survive long enough to take him down?

i think what you did with the level design is to think of a fun series of actions you need to make in order to pass the obstaces.
"ok, you double jump here, double jump here and only do one jump here or otherwise you won't reach the floor soon enought"

but the player doesn't know this series of steps before playing so in the player's perspective you are just hit with obstacles which you can't clear in an intuitive way, which doesn't feels fun at the beggining.

it also is way to hard for beeing the beggining of the game.  did you adjust the dificulty based on your skill? because remember you got better while developing the game, but a new player will start from scratch.

i know this doesn't reflect your current skill but i wonder if that was what how you made the levels at the time.

Thanks for playing! yea sadly i wasn't that good on level design by that time i just built the levels based on my skills so if i beat the level too easy i would make it even harder which was a big mistake because you cant compare yourself with a new actual player, i wanted to redesign some of the levels but that would be a big task because i have 30 levels and each level i believe was about 5000 pixels width and 3000 height so i decided to just leave it as it is and adding that note on the game page, but anyways thanks again for playing and for your feedback.

yea, see it this way, it is usefull to see the progress you have made. it will be like a time capsule.
